OVERVIEW

Plunge into deep waters teeming with marine life

Located at the northern edge of the Banderas Bay, you will know you have reached El Morro when you set your eyes on a series of rock pinnacles extending above the surface. Rising from the ocean floor, they created caves and tunnels filled with marine life. Coral, sponges and many varieties of tropical fishes offer an incredible spectacle of colors. Los Anegados instead lies halfway in between Marietas and El Morro, a bank of shallows gradually going deeper. This rocky bank with its intricate volcanic formations offers a great hiding spot for all kinds of small and large creatures.

What makes these dive sites so fascinating also makes them more intimidating for the less experienced divers; given the possibility of strong currents and the depth reached, these locations are suitable for experienced divers only.

What to Expect

First dive El Morro, second one Los Anegados

We will start diving down to 90 feet, where the entrance of a cave will open in front of you. Entering the tunnel you will be rewarded with the huge variety of marine life living there, see fans and corals on the rocky granite walls along with colorful nudibranchs, shrimps and octopuses. Once out of it , you might see jacks and yellowtails, you can spot the largest eels and a variety of tropical fish you won’t be able to count. Second stop Los Anegados. The bank begins around 30 feet filled with caverns and intriguing rock formations. Diving through Los Anegados canions, you will have the chance to observe an extensive marine life; eagle rays, moray eels and sometimes even nurse sharks. The intricate rocky geography is in fact the perfect hiding spot for both large and small creatures.

A 2 tank dive excursion

Our starting point will be the dive center in Sayulita where the divers will be fitted for equipment. You will be driven to Punta de Mita and there our 4 hour excursion will start.

We will reach El Morro in about 30 min for our first dive.

Second stop will be a shallower Los Anegados dive.

Groups will be small for a better customized experience. Our PADI certified instructors leading the dives will make sure to ensure safety in these sometimes challenging dive sites.

Returning Sayulita

The day will end at our favorite lunch spot in Sayulita where lunch will be set for you.
