OVERVIEW

Swimming to the Hidden Beach, a lifetime experience

Two inhabited islands, a few miles off the coast of Punta de Mita, Marietas Islands are considered  a natural paradise of breathtaking landscapes and profuse biodiversity. Only 116 visitors a day though, are allowed into one of its most famous corners, The Hidden Beach.

A protected national park, the access to the islands is restricted to a few hundreds permit holders who, everyday, have to share the only 116 spots available to visit the famous beach.

Invisible from the outside, the Hidden Beach is only accessible through a tunnel that links the beach to the open ocean. No boat can make its way into the little bay, you will have to swim through the rocky arch to reach this paradise of soft sand and clear water.

What to Expect

A profuse wildlife and enchanting marine life

Even if the Hidden Beach is the focus of your visit, Marietas Islands have much more to offer. On this intimate excursion you will be able to observe a great variety of seabirds, the most famous among them the blue footed booby, also frigate birds and seagulls to mention a few. In an ocean teeming with marine life, a great variety of fish find food and shelter between these volcanic rooks, moorish idols, damselfish, as well as surgeonfish, angelfish and puffers. Only in 2 places tourists are allowed to disembark, the Hidden Beach and Playa Nopalera, on this excursion you will see them both. After swimming to the Hidden Beach and some snorkeling, a little rest at Playa Nopalera is the best way to end this amazing experience. During the winter months, humpback whales will be the background to our return to shore.

Away from the crowd for a more intimate experience

Our boat is the perfect fit for small groups of friends and families. Meeting point is the dive center in Sayulita from where round transportation to Punta de Mita is provided.

A 3 hour excursion, we will end the day back in Sayulita.

Returning to Sayulita

Lunch will be ready for you at our favorite local restaurant; beer and tacos to seal a day you will never forget.
